This introductory intuition workbook is simply written and filled with pictures and diagrams, so that younger readers (ages twelve and up) can understand and benefit from it-as well as adults who have trouble with small type, long sentences, or abstruse concepts.
Sharon Franquemont, an intuition consultant and trainer, set out to write a primer that was easy and fun. She kept her presentation upbeat and inviting: "Intuition and happiness are interdependent," she writes. "Using your intuition will make you more happy; when you are happy, you are relaxed and open so your intuition flows better."
The author notes that intuition is like a seven-colored rainbow, in that it comes into our awareness in seven different ways; it can be instinctive, emotional, creative, systemic, visionary, collaborative or universal. She devotes a chapter to each of these "color" if intuitive perception. "Systems" intuition, for example relates to patterns in society and nature. "People with systems intuition talent are good readers of cultural trends, enjoy setting up new operations, work intuitively with whole images and see the big picture of how things work." In chapter six which is devoted to systemic intuition, Franquemont suggests drawing the map as a three-level spiral-with a personal problem solution at the center the instinctive intuition level at the first turning outward, the emotional intuition level at the second turning, and the creative intuition level at the third. At each level, the reader fills in a word or phrase that relates the solution to that type of intuitive perception (instinctive, emotional or creative). This Inspiral becomes a personalized map of the intuitive process, offering multidimensional perspectives on a specific problem or concern.
By the end of the book, the Inspiral Map encompasses all seven levels of intuition, which the reader has explored and integrated through questionnaires, exercises, affirmations and mediations. More a playbook that a workbook. Do It Yourself Intuition deserves the attention of teachers and parents, as well as general readers eager for help in developing and using some of the mind’s most elusive talents.
"I highly recommend this book. It’s simple, luminous and gets the job done."
